Since then, I’ve continued writing and practicing them, as they represent musical concepts that inspire me and continually improve my playing. Even after more than a decade of work, I’m still discovering their full potential.
At the same time, I decided to republish my first method, Time Manipulation, and finalize Time Initiation, which was published in September 2023.
I’m now nearing the completion of the writing and layout of the first volume of this third method, which will consist of two volumes.
As drummers, we’re often tempted to work on phrases and ideas picked up here and there from other musicians, but it’s not always easy to connect these different elements.
The exercises I offer are based on a fundamental rhythmic principle, using a limited number of patterns. From these foundations, I provide hundreds of variations that will teach you how to move through measures using the basic polyrhythms of 3:2 and 4:3. All the patterns are connected, and working on them will help you feel and integrate this unity.
This work can be started at an elementary level, but the book will also push the limits of advanced drummers. I guarantee that it will keep you busy for years, no matter your starting level.
